This variety was discovered thriving in the moist dark marshlands in coastal Humboldt County. All other varieties, mostly mainstream, gelatos, ogs, etc. were suffering while this highly aromatic robust plant seemed almost naturalized to the unique and tough cannabis growing region. Deep rich soils and high water tables help keep the local flora abundant in this region, however, cannabis being so susceptible to mold has historically performed poorly in these conditions. As we approached the plant a very distinct and familiar aroma pervaded the space which alluded to the rationale for the plants vitality. The smell sometimes referred to sweet pine or "wrecky" indicated its high terpinolene content which is a known anti-microbial/fungal/parasite/mold etc. terpene. It became very apparent that the dominant terpenes and essential oils that the eagle scout was generating was also warding off potential sources of damage and disease allowing this subspecies an opportunity to capitalize on the high nutrient environment, being grown in native soils of course. Once we extracted and refined the terpene fraction, we were able to test and verify our hypothesis that this variety was a high terpinolene strain and also learned that there was another rare dominant terpene present called Ocimene. Ocimene is one of the rarest terpenes in cannabis and presents a tropical essence to the palate. Being able to balance the sometimes harsh and powerful pine notes and with a sweet tropical counterpunch is why this cultivar was chosen for a flavor forward sativa leaning curated product.
